Plugin Overview

What is an Expansion Pack?

An Expansion Pack, or EP, is an optional add-on created to extend Card Duel System with a focused new feature. It uses the cards, languages, artwork, and project information already managed by Card Duel Studio, then adds its own configuration options and runtime functionality.

Expansion Packs do not replace or include the main Card Duel System plugin. They are designed for developers who want to expand their card game with additional systems while keeping everything connected to the same Studio project.

Plugin Details: Effects Plus Expansion Pack

Effects Plus Expansion Pack adds a Discard Zone for each duelist and expands Card Logic with new tactical effects for recovery, piercing damage, destruction protection, card restoration, and victory by effect.

Players can open the Discard Zone during a duel, inspect discarded cards, and switch between their own zone and the opponent's zone. Recovery effects can filter eligible cards, select a quantity, and return chosen cards to the hand or field.

Discard Zones exist only for the current duel and never alter the player's permanent collection. Protection states receive configurable animated auras and counters so their effect remains clear on the field.

• Dual Discard Zones: Track, browse, and inspect cards that leave play in separate player and opponent zones.
• Flexible Recovery Effects: Filter eligible cards and return selected targets from supported zones to the hand or field.
• Piercing Damage: Let configured attackers pass Battle damage through a defending Monster.
• Destruction Protection: Add physical and magical immortality with visible field auras and counters.

Differences between the Versions

Effects Plus Expansion Pack is currently available as a Full release. There is no separate Demo version available at this time.

The Full version contains the complete Discard Zone lifecycle and viewer, recovery tools, piercing damage, destruction protection, restoration and victory effects, Card Duel Studio authoring support, and customization options described on this page.

Full versions receive feature updates and direct support. Remember that support is always provided for the most recent available version of the plugin.

Compatibility and Documentation

This Expansion Pack requires Card Duel System v1.4.0 or newer and Card Duel Studio v1.7.0 or newer. Keep Effects Plus Expansion Pack below the main plugin in the RPG Maker MZ Plugin Manager.

Author the additional effects through Card Logic in Card Duel Studio. Runtime Discard Zone presentation, controls, text, and protection visuals are configured through RPG Maker MZ plugin parameters.

The plugin, its parameters, and its technical documentation are provided in English. Player-facing defaults are included in English and Spanish, with support for additional language overrides.

Plugin parameters and arguments: most of our plugins include a description of each parameter and argument, making it easy to understand what each item means and what aspect of the plugin you are modifying.

Fusion discard behavior, keyboard and gamepad shortcuts, pointer access, banner colors and placement, protection auras and counters, and multilingual player-facing text are available through the Plugin Manager.

The additional card effects are authored through Card Logic in Card Duel Studio and resolve automatically during supported duel actions.
